Hello Card-Writing Friends!
What an incredible month it’s been for our Cards for Care community! Thanks to your dedication, we’ve expanded to new locations and touched more lives than ever before. Your handwritten notes continue to bring comfort and joy to those who need it most.

✨ Exciting News: New Card Distribution Locations
This month, our team partnered with three new organizations to share Cards for Care bins across the city. These bins are for families, patients, and staff to pick up cards and enjoy a message of encouragement.
At Ronald McDonald House, we were warmly welcomed by a volunteer, toured the amenities, and delivered 50 welcome cards to incoming families. The cost of creating a card is small, but the difference it makes for those facing unimaginable situations is huge..

We also launched a card bin at the Stollery Children’s Hospital Family Room, where families staying for extended periods can now celebrate birthdays, connect with loved ones, or thank medical staff. A huge thank-you to our volunteers for crafting such beautiful cards!

🏡 Return Visit to Rivercrest Care Centre
Our VP of Communications, Lyra Brown, joined Founder Brendan McFatridge for a visit to the Rivercrest Nursing Home, where Cards for Care first began.
They reconnected with residents and interviewed them about the impact of receiving a card. Watch the interviews with residents Donna and Sharon here 👇
🌟 Volunteer Spotlight: Pat’s Incredible Contribution
When Pat first connected with Cards for Care, she wasn’t just dropping off a few cards — she was bringing a community.

A longtime volunteer and passionate card maker, Pat had been gathering a group of creative women for years. This summer, that group found a new home with us.
We’re amazed by Pat and her dedicated team, who donated an astonishing 1,200 handmade cards this month! Pat organized weekly card-making sessions at her local community centre, bringing together crafters of all ages to laugh, create, and share stories.
“Everyone has a story to tell and a message to share. These cards are our way of letting people know they’re not alone.” – Pat
💌 Your Impact Matters
Every card you create or donate makes a difference in someone’s day. From a child at Stollery receiving encouraging words during treatment to a healthcare worker feeling appreciated after a long shift, your thoughtfulness creates ripples of kindness throughout Edmonton.
Thank you for being part of our compassionate community!
