Local Partnership Helps Cards for Care Grow Its Impact

Community support often shows up in quiet, practical ways. For Cards for Care, that support has come through a partnership with Bulldog Self Storage, a locally owned Edmonton business that has helped the nonprofit expand its reach across the city.

Bulldog Self Storage has been operating in Edmonton since 2000 and has a history of supporting local initiatives, including Cards for Care and the Edmonton Food Bank. When unused space became available at one of their locations, the management and staff saw an opportunity to support an emerging grassroots organization.

“We had some unused space available, and this is such a worthy cause,” the Bulldog team shared. “We thought it would help Cards for Care grow and brighten more lives.”

That space has since become an essential part of Cards for Care’s operations. As the organization’s volunteer base and card inventory continue to expand, access to secure storage has allowed the team to work more efficiently and reach more partner sites across Edmonton.

What stood out most to the Bulldog team was not only the volume of cards being created, but the spirit of the volunteers behind them.

“We were impressed with the number of cards and the cheerfulness of the volunteers supporting this cause,” they said.

For Cards for Care, the partnership reflects a shared belief in community care and inclusion. Bulldog staff emphasized the importance of recognizing people who may otherwise feel forgotten.

“Everyone has a story,” the team noted. “Putting a smile on the face of someone who may not receive many visitors comes back tenfold.”

They added that many people have experienced visiting places where residents rarely see visitors, making small gestures of kindness especially meaningful.

“It’s important to recognize everyone in society,” they said.

The partnership emphasizes how grassroots initiatives are strengthened not by grand gestures, but by practical, thoughtful support that sustains community-driven work.
